Frequently Asked Questions...

What pets do you provide services for?

We care for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets.
Only dogs can receive full-service bathing and grooming.

My pet doesn’t do well for nail trims. Is that OK?

Absolutely. We will always try, but we will never force a pet beyond their limit.
If your pet becomes overly stressed or unsafe, we stop.
A special-handling fee may apply for extreme behavior or aggression.

Your pet’s well-being comes first—always.

Do you require vaccine records?

Nail trims & upkeep: No records required.

Full-service grooming & bathing: We must see your pet’s rabies expiration date.

Do I need an appointment?

Nail Trim Clinics: Walk-ins only.

At Our Shop: Appointments are recommended for nails and upkeep, but we take walk-ins when possible.

Full-Service Grooming/Bathing: Appointment required. Same-day openings occasionally available.

Why can’t I stay with my pet during their service?

Because safety comes first.
Pets are almost always calmer when they can’t see their parents. Staying with them can cause excitement, stress, or attempts to jump—risking injury.

We want their grooming experience to be focused, safe, and peaceful.

Why do some pets cry or scream during nail trims?

Some pets are simply very vocal and love to “share their opinion.”
Vocalizing does not mean they’re being hurt.
If a pet becomes too stressed, we stop. Comfort and safety are our #1 priority.

Will my pet’s nail get quicked?

We work carefully to avoid it—but it cannot be 100% prevented.
Quicks vary in length and visibility, especially in darker nails.
If a quick happens, we treat it immediately and keep your pet comfortable.

How long have you been open?

Topher’s Paw Co. began in 2020, and we've grown quickly since.
Our team brings over 15 years of professional grooming experience to every service.

Will you use a muzzle?

Only if needed for safety.
Some breeds cannot be muzzled safely, in which case we use an e-collar.
We always pair safety with compassion.

What is a Nail Trim Clinic?

Our monthly walk-in nail clinics are held at partnered pet stores and humane societies—an easy, appointment-free way to keep your pet’s nails in check.
Dates and locations are listed on our Nail Clinics page.

Is there a no-show or late-cancel fee?

Yes.

No-show: 50% of the scheduled service.

Full-service late cancel (within 48 hours): A late-cancel fee per pet of $35.

This keeps our schedule fair and respectful for all clients and groomers.

Why didn’t someone answer the phone when I called?

We’re a small, hands-on team of three.
If we’re actively grooming a pet, we never stop mid-service—that’s unsafe.
Leave a voicemail and we’ll call or text you back.
Texting us is the fastest way to reach us during business hours.

Do you offer home/mobile grooming?

Not currently. Our mobile grooming van experienced an electrical fire in February 2025.
Home services are paused for the foreseeable future.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, credit, and debit.
We do not accept checks.

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes! We offer eGift cards that can be purchased online and emailed instantly.

What is your online shop refund policy?

All sales are final.
If a product arrives damaged, we will exchange it for the same item with photo proof.

Do you have a loyalty program?

Yes—our Birthday Club!
Make sure your pet’s birthday is on file.
On their big day, you’ll receive a special birthday coupon right to your phone.

How often should my dog be groomed or bathed?

Every 6–8 weeks is ideal.
Long-haired dogs may benefit from coming in sooner.

How often should my pet get a nail trim?

Every 4 weeks.

Do you bathe and groom cats?

Yes!
We offer cat bathing and full-service haircuts.

How long do nail trims and upkeep services take?

They’re quick—usually 5–10 minutes, and you’ll wait while we complete the service.

How long does a full-service grooming or bath take?

Timing depends on coat, comfort level, size, and drying needs:

Short-hair bath: 1.5–2 hours

Long-hair bath: 2–2.5 hours

Haircuts: 2.5–3 hours

XXL breeds (e.g., Great Pyrenees): Up to 4 hours +

Every pet is different; their needs guide the pace.

How do I know when my pet is ready for pick-up?

We’ll send you a text once your pet is finished.
Pick-up is requested within 30 minutes of receiving the message.
